Huntington is a beachfront town on Long Island's North Shore with a rich history, scenic beauty, and a high quality of life. Huntington is nautical, meaning that sections of it are historically significant and border the ocean or tidal bodies of water like inlets and bays. Huntington's history is intertwined with the early growth of the American colonies. The village was acquired on April 2, 1653, by a group of English immigrants who acquired Huntington, which had previously belonged to the Matinecock Indians. The natural bays provided easy access to the inland farmlands of Long Island. The port served as the site of the early Huntington town, which served as a hub for the transfer of agricultural products into colonial trade. Despite the fact that agriculture remained its basis and water-borne transportation was its lifeline for two centuries, the whaling business and increasing manufacturing activities eventually extended the local economy and fueled Huntington's growth.

Huntington provides residents with a minimal suburban vibe, and the majority of homeowners here own their houses. Huntington's residents tend to be more on the conservative side.
