Plainview is a town in the state of New York that is around the size of a small town. Plainview is the 60th biggest community in New York, with a population of 27,100 people and seven distinct neighborhoods.

 

Plainview's beginnings may be traced back to 1648 when the property was acquired as an excellent farming ground. In 1695, the remaining property was bought in a deal known as the Bethpage Purchase. Plainview's agricultural market grew once the Long Island Railroad was completed. Cucumbers and potatoes were the main crops farmed in this area. In adjacent Farmingdale, there was pickle manufacturing that went down in the 1970s. Following WWII, many individuals attempted to relocate from New York to a more rural environment. Many Plainview farmers had to sell their property as a result of people migrating out of the city. Plainview evolved into the suburban town it is today as a result of massive development in the region. Plainview transitioned from farmland to a thriving town as its population grew.
